Din Check – or noise check – is also the phonetic sound of the “tabla,” an Indian percussion instrument. It’s a fitting name for a band that consistently brings audiences to their feet with their lively and rhythmic performances.
Din Check is New England’s premier Bollywood band, started in a basement in suburban Massachusetts in 2010. The band has been entertaining the South Asian sub-continent population with hit music from the Indian subcontinent for over 14 years now and has performed at public and private functions, festivals, restaurants, wedding expos, charity fundraisers, award shows, and outdoors events. At the invitation of various charities and organizations – Din Check has been invited to perform in communities outside of Boston, including Connecticut, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Texas.
The band has a full ensemble including vocalists, guitar, bass, keyboards and acoustic drums, and is popular for its high energy shows. Touching upon all genres, popular singers, and eras, the band appeals to people of all ages. Din Check’s repertoire also spans multiple languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati, as well as unique fusions or “mashups” of popular American rock music and Indian music.
Din Check was founded by Jolly Bhatia, Sam Rao and Sameer Bhambhani in April 2011. From humble beginnings, the band has grown in popularity and scale and often includes special guest artists on vocals, percussions and even unique instruments like violin, saxophone and harmonica! The core team of Din Check remains strong because of the incredible chemistry of the band members. They are best friends on and off stage, and that shows in their performances. The joy the team exudes in playing music together, and the way they bring the audience in and make them feel like part of their “family”, is something that truly has to be experienced LIVE.
